For the last month, we’ve had the privilege of having a bright, young intern work in our office. (It keeps us young!) Carli Perleberg, a rising senior at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, has been assisting the creative team. Today is her last day and we will miss her! Here’s what she thought about her experience in the agency world:
My time at Realm was well spent. I was able to learn a lot about the ropes of the advertising and design industry. It really helped being able to work closely with the designers and get a feel for what they do before I go to college. Now I have a better idea of what I’d like to study and what to expect in the real world. I plan to major in business/advertising and graphic design, with a minor in photography. I’m still not sure where I want to go to college, but hopefully somewhere that has a good graphics program such as Georgia State or UGA, which are my top two choices right now. Everyone at Realm was very welcoming and gave me plenty to look forward to in my future.

It’s that time of year again! A time when communicators around Atlanta scramble to gather their best work and go up against one another in a friendly competition to win DA GOLD. A Golden Flame award, that is.
This year, Realm is once again helping out with the award program. We designed the lovely ‘call for entries,’ inspired by 80s prom theme. It doesn’t get much better than that. The event ceremony will literally be a prom. So get ready to break out your flowing dresses, tacky tuxes and most of all, don’t forget to bring a date!
We’re also managing the collection and distribution of the entries to go to our IABC sister chapters around the nation for judging. Eric and Jaimie are leading the planning of the event ceremony. As mentioned, it will be a prom theme so we’re excited to get fun, colorful decorations and a great DJ or band. If you’re interested in joining the GFA event committee, e-mail Eric at eberrios@realmadvertising.com.
We hope to see you all there in October! Best of luck to those of you entering!

Yesterday, a few of us had the pleasure of attending the bi-monthly networking mixer hosted by the South African-American Chamber of Commerce (SAACC). Like the last one, we had a great time and met many interesting people. Of course, there was lots of talk about the Atlanta International Soccer Fest (AISF), as the launch date is quickly approaching and SAACC is spearheading the effort along with the German American Chamber of Commerce and the non-profit partner SOS Children’s Villages. Some of our own Realmies, Michael and Jaimie, are even playing on the SOS Children’s Villages’ team in the soccer tournament on Saturday, June 12th. Time to practice!
Last night, we also had the chance to learn from Dina Molaison, senior international trade specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service in Atlanta. She spoke about her role counseling Georgia companies on their export strategies, identifying potential business partners in foreign markets and helping her clients comply with U.S. export laws. If you’re looking for help in international commercial trade, we encourage you to look up the U.S. Commercial Service’s Export Assistance Center.
Additionally, one of our missions is to integrate all the wonderful people we’ve met through the mixers and AISF with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a non-profit professional organization we’re involved with. We think IABC is a great fit for many of the people we’ve been fortunate enough to meet. All in all, last night was a great example of fun networking and connecting people who can help each other.

We are happy to welcome Cam (not Kim, Pam, Lamb or Jam) Hilsman as our intern. Cam is a recent graduate from the Art Institute with a keen eye for great design. She is smart and energetic, and we embrace that type of spirit around here at Realm. We look forward to seeing her sparks of genius. So with that said, please welcome Cam!
